Agent M10 Posted July 6, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 6, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was under the impression that you couldn't use the 50mm DR with the Monochrom or M9. The newest issue of LFI has a small article about Ralph Gibson in it and he says, "For my recent book project, Mono, I predominantly worked with the Summicron 50mm f/2 DR on an M Monochrom. The lens simply manages to bring the light to the sensor with the kind of beauty you used to get with film." How can a DR be used in a Monochrom? Advertisement Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Hi Agent M10, Take a look here Dual Range, Monochrom, and Ralph Gibson. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
peterbengtson Posted July 6, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 6, 2014 It can be modified by someone like DAG but I believe it will no longer work at the macro settings with the goggles.
swamiji Posted July 7, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 7, 2014 It can be modified by someone like DAG but I believe it will no longer work at the macro settings with the goggles. So that service turns a DR into a Rigid?
wattsy Posted July 7, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 7, 2014 the kind of beauty you used to get with film." Used to? Odd that Gibson, of all people, would talk about film in the past tense.
jbl Posted July 8, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 8, 2014 So that service turns a DR into a Rigid? Yes, but with the look of a DR :-)
Agent M10 Posted July 8, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted July 8, 2014 My impression of Gibson's quote is that he used the DR for close ups. I read somewhere that you could use the DR on the Mono if you extended the lens all the way out, in effect for close ups. Is that the case? or is .7 the closest we can get? jbl Posted July 8, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 8, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My understanding is that it only works 1-4m on the digital bodies (no idea on the M7 and MP). Going below a meter requires the near focus part to be engaged which could conceivably clear the cam, but I wouldn't try it.
