k_g_wolf ✝ Posted July 4, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 4, 2014 Send an E-mail to LEICA CUSTOMER CARE and attach this photograph. They should know what to do and will most likely ship the magnet to you FOC. Best of luck GEORG
gravastar Posted July 4, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 4, 2014 As a quick temporary fix you will find that almost any magnet stuck to the outside of the base plate with adhesive tape will work. Bob.

ayewing Posted July 4, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 4, 2014 I think this problem has been discussed before. A diy solution was suggested here http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m-type-240/300116-lost-m240-baseplate-magnet-diy-solution.html#post2506141
bocaburger Posted July 4, 2014 Share #6 Posted July 4, 2014 Could the magnet be removed from the baseplate and glued instead over the "cover off sensor" area, so dropping the baseplate wouldn't cause the magnet to get lost? I really don't need being warned that the cover is off, I can kinda tell by looking Or at least proactively remove the magnet and re-glue it with epoxy or some stronger adhesive. Yes, there's even a recess in which to glue the magnet . Bob.
pop Posted July 4, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 4, 2014 Use the proper kind of glue, though; otherwise the Leica will only display "a suffusion of yellow".
