menos I M6 Posted July 3, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 3, 2014 They are great bang for the buck (especially when comparing on price only vs Pocketwizards), but they are not even in the ams class as PWs. I find the YN triggers very unreliable (with several models I get occasional misfirings (apart from being annoying, I find this a safety issue as you really don't want a powerful flash misfiring when you are accidentally looking right at it's flash head). I also find them eating batteries despite being switched off (do not store these with batteries inside !!!). I can store my pocket wizards for months with batteries without them draining a bit). They don't compare on range as well, although I find they work sufficiently well within "normal" range - who shoots at several hundred meters with these cheap triggers anyway? If one need PWs, one buys PWs, the YNs are great value for the money though ( I think I threw a set away as the misfiring seriously annoyed me). No bad thing that PW has some competition at their prices. I agree that their batteries last well, but as the Mini TT1 only uses button batteries you can't tell it is about to run out until you miss a shot (and then waste time tracing the cause). With rechargeables you can have confidence that you charged them the night before. That though, and the price, are the only gripes I have with PW. Does the Yongnuo use rechargeables? Could part ofthe problem be that no where does the manufacturer represent that this device is compatible with a Leica M camera? You might also want to check the batteries that you usd for the receiver that connects to the sf-24 flash.
