Lux asph 35mm date code

I think it's just Leica's identifying code. The current version (commonly called the "FLE" version) is #11663. The previous version (1994-2010) is, I think, 11874. I've no idea which version is 11855.

Edit: if it's the one at Wilkinson's I think it's been mislabelled and is the 11874. A first rate lens but be sure to check it thoroughly for focus throughout the aperture range.

Yes Ian it's the one at Wilkinsons. Am I correct in assuming luxes are not 6 bit coded as he says this has no coding at all. Not sure how this will impact the M 240 I'm getting. Sorry for my ignorance but I've only ever had an M9 with 35mm cron.

Lenses manufactured after mid-2006 (including this lens) are all 6-bit coded but this particular example must have been manufactured before that date. IMO it's not a big deal, especially if it is going to be your only lens. You can also have the lens coded by Leica or a third-party (or DIY).

I just did a quick search on the L-Camera's Wiki site and the lens code: 11855 is for the 50mm Summilux-M pre-ASPH version not a 35mm Summilux.
