I hope Leica will not make any rash changes. The facts, as I see them sofar, are:

1./The M8 produces great images as is.And is reasonably fast and storage efficient.

2./There is no proof yet of any image degradation due to the Leica M8 solution.

3./Going for more bits will slow down operation and reduce storage efficiency.

Should Leica implement a 16/8 bit choice, I would not object but would be unlikely to use it much, if at all. But I would be very unhappy if Leica went away from the efficient scheme employed today. So would many of you.

In the meantime, let us enjoy our M8-s. It is a nice sunny day. I am going out to take some pictures.

If there is anything that we can be certain about in life is that Leica will reframe from doing anything "rash". It took them 40 years to introduce AE in the M7.
