Guest Posted June 8, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 8, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Currently once exposure compensation is set e.g., +1 stop, this is not reset back to 0 once the camera is switched off. Would it make sense to have an menu option to switch this feature on/off for those who are forgetful?

JohnJWhite Posted June 8, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 8, 2014 If you create your own user profile, you can get in the habit of pressing the "Set" button whenever you switch on the camera. Then you'll see if your user profile is selected and can change it if necessary. Exposure compensation is one parameter you can choose in a user profile. thighslapper Posted June 9, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 9, 2014 Some features come with drawbacks ....... this is one of them ....... If it worked the way you wanted a significant % of users would complain...... Although I agree with you .... for some lenses I have -0.3 dialled in permanently You are never going to please everyone .....
Jeff S Posted June 9, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 9, 2014 Would it make sense to have an menu option to switch this feature on/off for those who are forgetful? Well, forgetful folks are just as likely to forget that they have exposure compensation set in the first place….one reason why many prefer to use manual mode. But, having the flexibility to set a camera the way one likes is a good thing. Not without controversy, however, as demonstrated by the heated debate over auto-ISO implementation. Guest Posted June 10, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 10, 2014 Thank for the replies! Not asking for it to be permanent either way. It could be an easy firmware update to switch on feature (to reset after power off/on). And switch off (no reset) for those who like it as is now. Option better than no option I believe.
