JCorp Posted April 29, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) All, Was wondering if anyone could recommend a photo printing company in London (or UK online) that is able to share icc profiles for their printers: I am struggling to get my on-screen (calibrated) and printed output looking the same with standard high-steet photo printing companies - but am not wanting to add my own printer quite yet. Recommendations much appreciated! Jonathan

Are your images profiled with AdobeRGB (1998)? You will almost certainly get better results from the high street labs if you convert your images to sRGB. gravastar Posted May 1, 2007 Share #5  Posted May 1, 2007 Jonathan, I still use Photobox PhotoBox - Digital photo prints and gifts, free online photo albums & digital photo sharing for some work and I have old profiles for their Fuji Frontier and Agfa printers.  The profiles were originally produced by Digital photo lab profiles (Drycreek) in the US and were freely available. However they seemed to discontinue publishing ones for Photobox some time ago and most of their profiles are now for Costco in the UK. Here's the link for UK printer profiles UK digital photo lab profiles  Nearly all online printers require JPEG files converted to sRGB color space. If you don't convert the colors will be desaturated and off. If I remember correctly Photobox used to have a problem with their print drivers crashing if the profile was embedded in the JPEG file. With them (and maybe others) it's best to convert the image to SRGB color space and not embed the profile.  If you would like me to send the old Photobox printer profiles let me know. Your post has reminded me I need to ask Photobox if they have newer profiles available.  There's a wealth of information available on the Drycreek site - well worth researching.  Bob. jackal Posted May 1, 2007 Share #6  Posted May 1, 2007 just as an aside re: photobox   i recently got a batch of small 6x4 prints fromm photobox  i sent large 4k jpegs all sRGB but the print I got back were mostly soft as hell ! They were all mostly taken with a nikon 85mm 1.4 and are absolutely pin sharp.  Does anyone know if you have to resize them specifically for different size prints. I can only imagine that the 4k files i sent dont translate into good small prints because you printer has way to many pixels all fighting for a single print dot ?  I also found there was a distinct green bias to a quite a few of the pictures. I had one pic of a white wall, in PS it had a tiny amount of red in it but the print showed a very usgly green wall !   strange, service from them has always been excellent

I've always had excellent service from Photobox with excellent prints (last batch 2 weeks ago), so it sounds like a quality control problem. If it was me, I'd let them know what happened and get my credits back.
