Bristol Mini Meet

Last week, out of the blue, I had an email from a member of the forum who was

to be working in Bristol for a few weeks and wondered if we could meet up.

A welcome surprise and, of course, the answer was a resounding yes. Especially

if the meet was to involve beer and food and Leica. In that order!!!

So, yesterday evening, I met up with Swanny Swanny, in the Mud Dock Cafe

in Bristol which is effectively the LUF club house ;) A very pleasant meet which

helped us to ignore the torrential rain outside although that soon blew over. The

Mud Dock Burgers and Mud Dock Bitter went down a treat and we had a good

old natter.

Then came the real surprise ..... I happened to mention that I was going to visit my

folks in Derby, Swanny Swanny says "whereabouts in Derby because I'm from

Duffield" " Really" says I "So am I, I went to Ecclesbourne", "So did I" says Swanny

Swanny

It turns out we went to the same school only four years apart and didn't know

each other back then although we did know people in common. I'm the older

one before anyone asks! :D

Lloyd, it was a pleasure to meet you and I really enjoyed our chat and trip

down memory lane. Thanks for getting in touch, let's keep it that way!

I think the waitress was quite amused by our table and kept looking for our

anoraks :D

It all goes to show what a small world we live in,

It was a pleasure meeting up and nattering about cameras and lens as well as our shared background and not an anorak in sight

I'd certainly recommend the Mud Dock Cafe as a convivial place to meet and chat

Thanks for meeting up David and adding a pic of my M9 sporting 75 Summilux and M3 with 50 Summicron

Lloyd

Steve Unsworth and I had a similar experience. We originally came from within 3 miles of each other, knew a lot of the same people and places but had never met until the forum meeting in Wetzler. Yes, it's a small world.

Cheers, Tom
