marchyman Posted March 19, 2016 Share #41 Posted March 19, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Camera carrying strap eyelet. The recall notice said... We are aware of the fact that a few of the Leica M (Typ 240) cameras shipped before April 5, 2013, experienced loose carrying strap eyelets. We identified that these cases were caused by an assembly fault that occurred in the Leica M (Typ 240) production line. Products potentially affected only concern Leica M (Typ 240) cameras shipped prior to April 5, 2013. After identifying what happened, we fixed the production issue immediately. Rest assured that the issue has been completely solved and corrected. We are deeply sorry that this occurred. I assume all have been recalled and repaired by now... it was almost 3 years ago. hoppyman Posted March 19, 2016 Share #42 Posted March 19, 2016 To be clear this is a strap lug /screw that fell off? Not the actual M240 lug ? The lug that came with the camera is secure and requires no maintenance.......right? The issue reported is about the accessory finger loop (which screws into either accessory grip, not attaches to the camera body itself). The contention by some members is that the design is at fault when it relies on a screw thread and when that attaching bolt is unscrewed un-noticed (in normal handling?) the whole assembly can detach and the camera be dropped and potentially damaged. The solution is consistent checking that the thread is fully engaged whenever handling the camera and application of the correct grade of thread fastening compound is suggested by other posters here.
