Archiver Posted May 20, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Australian retail prices for the T system aren't as bad as they could have been. The camera body retails in America for $1850. Australian retail is AUD$2300. The zoom and prime are $1800 and $1950, respectively, in the US. In Australia you'll pay $2300 and $2500. The current exchange rate puts the American price for the body at AUD$1987.29. Add 10% for the ever wonderful GST and the T body costs about AUD$2190. Shipping from the US for an individual unit, assuming you bought at one of the reputable online merchants, would be about $50, so at a total of around US$2240 vs $2300 is in line with US pricing. And with that you'd get local service, local warranty, and the security of buying from a brick and mortar shop. Not bad at all.

Having said that, I went through the same exercise, and the local price in NZ makes it worth maintaining the excellent relationship I have with Greg from Photo & Video International in Christchurch :-)
