woorob Posted May 14, 2014 Share #1 Posted May 14, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I use Lightroom 5 exclusively to catalogue my library of over 50,000 images, and use Photoshop CC regularly (but not always) for final post-processing work. I am very satisfied with this workflow, but see that DxO has what appears to be a substantially better noise reduction program called PRIME in Pro Optics 9. It doesn't appear to me that Pro Optics 9 integrates easily into the Adobe workflow, so I'm wondering if anyone has tried this combination or has any insights to share. Thanks in advance! Advertisement Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Hi woorob, Take a look here Integration of DxO Pro 9 with a LR/PS Workflow. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sanyasi Posted May 15, 2014 Share #2 Posted May 15, 2014 I used DxO perspective control for awhile. You could open it from within Photoshop as a filter. When I converted to CC, the "link" broke and DxO was very unhelpful until I pointed out to the person sending me the stupid e-mail that there were other programs that do the same thing. By the time someone got back to me, I had moved on and am now using something different to correct perspective. I looked for the e-mail, but don't have it anymore. So you have two solutions. "Scream loud," and someone will get back to you. Or, use a different product. I have found the Nik suite links to Photoshop without trouble. I use there noise reduction program. The suite is cheap. I believe you can download a trial version.
woorob Posted May 15, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted May 15, 2014 Thanks Jack for reminding me about the Nik collection. I have the full Nik suite but it disappeared as a plug-in after my most recent LR upgrade. I've figured out how to add it back as a plug-in and experimented with Dfine2 on an image I took after 9 pm last night with a Canon 6D at 12800 ISO. Remarkable. I've also created a sharpening preset in LR for use following Dfine noise reduction, which works very well. So I don't think I need the "Prime" noise reduction in DxO. I've got the Pro 6 version but rarely use it anymore after refining my LR/PS workflow. Thanks again for the input!
Bart D Posted May 15, 2014 Share #4 Posted May 15, 2014 I do all my conversions with DxO. Have used it since I began with digital. Optics has perspective controls like in Viewpoint build in to it. Plus the film emulations from Film Pack as well, when you buy that. You can export DNG's that can be imported into LR, which I do for the catalogue function and to use the NIK plug-ins when I choose so, especially Silver Efex. The Prime noise reduction is impressive. I have been pleased with the support as well.
