M mount lens adapters

Does anyone know of adapters that will allow the mating of SLR lenses to the Leica M mount? Stephen Gandy of Cameraquest has them but they are more sophisticated (and expensive) than what I'm looking for, which is: a simple adapter to allow me to use SLR lenses on my Visoflex III.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Cameraquest's are the cheapest that I know of. He has 2 types the cheaper ones go for 125. On the Viso most SLR lenses can only be used in extreme close-ups, no infinity or even mid-range focus.

The R film plan to mount distance is about 47mm the M+Viso III is 68.8mm so an R lens on the Viso is placed way to far from the film plane.

Bruce, they're more complicated in the sense that they're about 3/4 inch deep. I bought one of these on eBay last year, in case I needed to acquire one of the R-lenses (don't call me a collector!).

I don't believe you can mount the R lenses directly on the Viso. They need to be stood off from the housing because of the design that takes mirror swing into account.

Bill:

Thanks for the heads-up. My goal is actually a little more complicated as well... I'm looking for a way to use a Lens Baby with the M8. The Visoflex gives me part of the solution - what I need is a way to take the Lens Baby with an SLR mount and attach it to the Visoflex. Hence the desire for a simple adapter. And I'm not too worried about focus because a) the design of the Lens Baby and how it focuses, and B) the people at LB are willing to modify one of their gizmos to work.

I'm going to take another gander at Gandy's site... :D Thanks!

Bruce, I see that this device comes in an R-mount. The Leica R-to-M adapter will mount this properly, and should do so on either an M camera or the Viso, no?

This looks like a fun gadget. Will you post some pix and descripx when you get the thing right?

Which adapter are you referring to? The one from Cameraquest?

<edit> Never mind. I see you're referring to a specific Leica adapter. Would you happen to know the Leica number for said adapter? Thanks!

Update: I found the Novoflex adapters and B&H has them in stock. Now I'm trying to find out if I can have a Lenbaby 2 modified instead of the 3G. Stay tuned...
