Dear Friends,

I have a little problem with the Summilux 75mm and the IR/UV filter. It also occurs with the Summilux 50mm, the APO-Summicron 75mm and the APO-Summicron 90mm (and I suppose the Summicron-50mm).

The problem is that when the filter is fit on the lens, the cap cannot be used. It is not a big problem but, I would like to have a small plastic cap for the lens when the filter is attached. Maybe a cap that surround the retracted hood. Is this possible? How did you solve this little problem? I don't like to have the lens+filter unprotected.

Best idea is just to sew up a hood out of thin vinyl that you can get from any material shop. Dont frig round with leather because you dont know what oils are impregnated, and fabric isnt waterproof.

I live on the coast and am often on the beach and in the water. When it is raining or blowing a gale it is useful to keep the sand out of the lens workings too. It covers your hood cut outs, you dont have to keep your thumb over the hole in the wet.

Chuck it in your pocket, lose it, make a spare or three. Ten bucks buys enough material for a lifetimes supply.
