Herr Barnack Posted April 28, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted April 28, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just my humble opinion, but an X2 type camera with a sensor like the M Monochrom has would be a great camera to put in the lineup. Perhaps an APS size 14MP sensor X3 camera, priced at $3500 USD or thereabouts? Â Thoughts?
Advertisement Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Hi Herr Barnack, Take a look here Attn. Leica: Please make an X3 for us - with a monochrome sensor!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

leicaphilia Posted April 29, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted April 29, 2014 I like the idea. But I doubt its economically feasible. Who knows.
Kyros Moutsouris Posted April 29, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted April 29, 2014 If there is space for MM there should be space for XM too. And yes it is feasible.

Herr Barnack Posted April 30, 2014 Author Share #6  Posted April 30, 2014 yep for the 15-20 folks who would go for it........I do not believe it is commercially viable  As well loved as both the M Monochrom and X2 are, it seems to me that the camera I propose would cause a stampede of buyers (provided it is priced correctly).  JMHO, though. skinnfell Posted April 30, 2014 Share #7 Â Posted April 30, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would think a mono X2 would be even more feasible than a mono M9. But the latter has been more successful than Leica anticipated, and as a happy Monochrom owner I can attest this. Â Such a version would make it less scary to jump into mono-land. Besides, the mono-trick is a great way of making a rather pedestrian sensor into a beast.
wda Posted April 30, 2014 Share #8 Â Posted April 30, 2014 If there is to be an X3, please endow it with the latest sensor technology, jitter-free adjustments and an f/2.5 Summarit lens. That should be possible without increasing body size. Let it also make use of the existing OVF. I could then be tempted to upgrade my X1 which continues to contribute on a daily basis. mjh Posted April 30, 2014 Share #9  Posted April 30, 2014 Just by the way: With Leica’s naming scheme there won’t be an X3, ever. If the next model should have a prime lens it would be called ‘X (Typ whatever)’, with a zoom lens it would be the ‘X Vario (Typ whatever)’, and if it should sport a monochrome sensor – which I doubt – it would be the ‘X Monochrom (Typ whatever)’. Now what again was the model designation of the camera recently making the rounds on the rumor sites?
wda Posted April 30, 2014 Share #10 Â Posted April 30, 2014 Sorry Michael, but I rarely read rumour sites, so I will just be patient and see what evolves.

Kyros Moutsouris Posted May 1, 2014 Share #13  Posted May 1, 2014 As a reminder: Coming soon: Leica X type 113 camera | Leica News & Rumors. Short memory, probably due to Leica-T overload! Danke schön :-) PS. If the future X will have in-body wifi a unibody design is excluded, so there is still hope for in-body EVF!

Peter_S Posted May 3, 2014 Share #17  Posted May 3, 2014 Just my humble opinion, but an X2 type camera with a sensor like the M Monochrom has would be a great camera to put in the lineup. Perhaps an APS size 14MP sensor X3 camera, priced at $3500 USD or thereabouts? Thoughts?  Yes please...and with a 40 or 50mm equiv lens. The X2 is an exceptional camera (especially as addition to a film kit, but also in terms of ergonomics, handling) with a lovely lens and I would love to see a monochrome, more powerful version that is specialized enough to step ahead of the competition for b/w work (and keeps the X series alive).
