berbor Posted April 27, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just tried to download the latest M9 firmware 1.196. Unfortunately the leica website has an incorrect link to the file. Instead of an M9 firmware the download link points to a file of the M240. Can anyone send me the M9 1.196 file as a PN ? Thanks! Berth Posted April 30, 2014 Share #5 Posted April 30, 2014 Have you tried their M-E website?
terrycioni Posted April 30, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 30, 2014 Have you tried their M-E website? I am not quite sure what you mean by their M-E website. I went to the Leica Camera support website got to the M9 firmware tab and of course it wants to download the M240 firmware update. If you choose M-E from the list there is not update listed. If you any other links that might do the trick I would greatly appreciate it. Kind regards, Terry
pieterpronk Posted April 30, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 30, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) It seems quite obvious Leica wants you to update your M9 or the M-E to their current camera: the M - typ 240. Or, considering we haven't had a firmware update for the M240 for a while either (there have been rumors, but the M9 also had many rumors about firmware updates), maybe Leica only considers the "T" their current camera... The M-E is not a current Leica camera? I'll be damned. And to think they let me register mine when I bought it last month.
terrycioni Posted April 30, 2014 Share #9 Posted April 30, 2014 I was sent the update via email by a fine gentlemen from this forum. Thank you so much for taking the time do that. If you are ever in Vancouver beer on me... I am sure it is just a mistake on the part of the web masters at Leica AG in that the update is not properly linked. As much as I would like the Leica M - it is NOT going to happen - retired means retired these days as our governments (civic, provincial, and federal) would prefer I spend all my disposable income on (hidden) taxes...I still very much love my Leica M9 - especially with the very simple but terrific 28mm F2.8 Elmarit. pieterpronk Posted April 30, 2014 Share #10 Posted April 30, 2014 Don't mind me. I'm just bitter because there are still things unfixed in Leica's most expensive camera, the Monochrom. And I'm not expecting a fix any more... And that while they now release some sort of wonder camera with all kinds of app and software features. Apparently they have enough resources to program a whole new touchscreen user interface, but a fix for their 6700 euro Monochrom is not feasible... Sorry to hear there are issues with the Monochrome - I hadn't heard this. I had the opportunity to use a sales demo for a week or so and I really enjoyed it - ALOT. I thought the B&W rendering was nothing short of amazing. They are 8000+ CDN dollars:) Cheers, Terry
