Not sure if these images were made using a tripod? The V-Lux4 at 1/15 shutter speed versus the X2 at1/30 shows an incredible amount of detail, if made handheld.

I have frequently seem images made with the V-Lux series that compete very well indeed against much larger sensors and even larger cost! Add to this the versatile vario lens and it is potentially a serious photographic tool.

All aspects considered, the larger sensor in the X2 should have the edge. But the V Lux zoom does make shooting easier to get preferred perspective right.

Hello David

My Avatar images were all taken using the earliest Panasonic (FX10) version of the Vlux series, even long before there was a Leica version. It was fitted with a 4Mpx sensor and with the Leica badged lens that had nothing like the extended focal lengths available on the latest series of Vlux and Panasonic bridge cameras. In fact I was able to enlarge and print from that camera up to A3 exhibition size using a very good interpolation programme.

The image was selected for inclusion in the 2012 LUF book and it is quite capable of standing alongside images made with far more expensive cameras's and lenses, including my own Leica R9/DMR! :)
