midge5058 Posted April 13, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted April 13, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have noticed that my DNG images are low ouster or non-enhanced while the JPEGS are rich in color and contrast. Is this normal because the DNG files are raw while the JPEGS have the in-camera enhancements applied?
Advertisement Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Hi midge5058, Take a look here X-Vario DNG Images Washed Out. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
2wk Posted April 13, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted April 13, 2014 Well, they should be "non enhanced" since they are Raw files. Although, my .dng files are not looking so much drastically different than my standard jpegs. Try resetting your camera. But, the jpegs take the in camera adjustments such as color saturation, sharpness or contrast while the raw files do not. The raw files are meant to be enhanced with post production and are much much more malleable in that respect.

wda Posted April 14, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted April 14, 2014 Washed out raw files suggests serious over-exposure. Have you ruled out that possibility?
Guest DrPix Posted April 14, 2014 Share #7  Posted April 14, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) X Vario dng images are everything BUT washed out! When developed in Lightroom (I use Embeded Profile) very often they need very little tweaking, apart from some sharpening and other minor "corrections". I use Photoshop only for final editing/sharpening before printing! On the other hand the OOC Jpegs (standard) seem to me completely liveless, very often with traces of CA and purple fringing, strange! X Vario is a fantastic, unique camera - forget the ridiculous "slowness laments" - which renders images easily competing with the output from cameras/optics many times its price. You can´t go wrong!
