leicanut2 Posted April 26, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well here is a question I need a new computer and I like the Apple pro labtop. The photos that the dealer showed me on the gloss screen were super. I know many of you use Apple computers by some of the threads on the forum. Question do they break down is the extended warranty worth the cash? My idea is if it last the first year ( long as I don't spill my beer on it ) it should last 3 or more. Cheer Jan S. jfgilbert Posted April 26, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 26, 2007 I have 2 iMacs, 2 PowerBooks G4s, and 1 MacBook Pro, and got them all with Apple Care. Both PB's I brought to the Apple store just before the three years were over. One of the PB had some keys worn off and they replaced the keyboard without questions. The second one, I thought that one corner of the screen did not have even lighting and they replaced the entire display, again without a question. In both cases, this could have been the result of normal wear and tear from use, but it was not questioned. The others macs are more recent and I have not had to bring them back yet but probably will when they get older. I think it is worth it for the peace of mind and to bring your computer back to top condition after three years, that will extend their useful life for a few more years and I found that the Apple store folks - at least at mine - go out of their way to take care of machines that are covered under Apple Care. I consider typical extended warranties as nothing more than ways to extract more money out of the consumer, but in this case I think I am getting my money's worth. As always, fwiw and ymmv. Cheers, Jacques
