peterv Posted April 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Again, hello to all users of the Film Forum. I just came home and I'm thrilled... This afternoon I ordered my very own MP a la carte with 0.85 viewfinder, all black chrome, the classic rewind button, without engraving, and the MP leatherette. After reading all the threads about the MP (twice ) I became very enthousiastic with the idea of making pictures the way I was tought in Filmschool, some twenty years ago... Imagine the shot, get the right lens, measure the light, interpret the measured light, set the aperture you want, focus and produce the image as you imagined... The MP seems to me the ultimate tool for this kind of shooting, and I hope a new and for me personally innovative way of taking photo's will emerge from working with this camera. They say an a la carte takes about five weeks to arrive... Luckily I have the M8 to practice in the meantime... Thanks to all the people who contributed to this forum and helped me to make the decision to buy the MP. One of the most expensive and one of the easiest purchases I ever made... innerimager Posted April 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 24, 2007 Congratulations Peter! I will be in Amsterdam in May for vacation. If you see a guy with an M7 hanging low, and an M8 higher about the neck...that's me! best....Peter
narmo Posted April 25, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 25, 2007 I think I am in the same situation. but 4 weeks before you I saw the M8, M7 & MP last week in a local photo exhibition, the guy from Leica explained to me the new M8, but my attention went to the M7&MP Regardless of Digital vs Film, I just loved the idea of holding it close, and taking your time and enjoying that ClicK! I would feel really proud if I got a nice photo.... So, I've requested a La Carte edition , M7, Orange leather, With Engraving. I'm still not so sure what I am doing, but I would like to see my signature on top. Am I doing the right thing? Isn't it cool to have the Sign? What view finder should I get? thanks for your help. omran

peterv Posted April 25, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted April 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Congratulations Peter D. Now are we going to begin calling you Peter MP? Allan Thanks Allan, I've been thinking of changing my name for quite a while now. I chose it when I first came to the Forum thinking I would only post one or two messages... If only I would have known that from that moment on I was going to hang out here almost every day... Maybe than my financial position would have been far better than it is now... Oh well, I can't blame the Forum and it's inspiring members for my spending money on beautiful gear which I love to use. Peter D Lux 2 with an M8 and an MP coming up... Who would have thought..? Well, what's in a name anyway? Thanks again, Peter

hlansing Posted May 5, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 5, 2007 I just did the same thing..I sold my MP to fund my M8 lust. And now I just bought a MP to replace that hole in my heart.
peterv Posted May 5, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted May 5, 2007 Congratulations on your purchase! I wish I could afford a new MP... I can't afford it either... Just did it, 'borrowed' the money from my bank... Figured that it should be possible to sell at least enough MP-made photo's to pay the interest on the loan... peterv Posted May 5, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted May 5, 2007 I just did the same thing..I sold my MP to fund my M8 lust. And now I just bought a MP to replace that hole in my heart. Interesting (but probably expensive...) story. I'd be interested to know what it was exactly that you where missing while not owning an MP? And also: How and when do you decide to use one or the other? Thanks, Peter

hlansing Posted May 9, 2007 Share #14 Posted May 9, 2007 Interesting (but probably expensive...) story. I'd be interested to know what it was exactly that you where missing while not owning an MP? And also: How and when do you decide to use one or the other? Thanks, Peter For me, the MP will primarily be my backup to the M8...but will be used when I just feel like not carrying around everything else the m8 entails, just a lens, roll or two of film and that's it. No beastly charger or memory cards.
