Jean-Michel Posted March 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, My battery charger (original M9 charger) has started acting up. It has started to charge vey slowly, the green light comes on briefly, etc, it is as if something inside the charger was not properly connected. Using the 'smack it' repair technique, it is working fine now, but that type of repair is not known to be permanent! I can of course buy a new Leica charger, but wonder if any of the third party chargers are any good. Any advice or comment will be appreciated. DWatts Posted March 21, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 21, 2014 Hullo Jean-Michel, For what it is worth I bought an M8/9 Travel charger on eBay for about £12.00 that is smaller than my M9 official one and it has worked very well for some 8 months now. N o problems with it or my mix of M8 / M9 batteries. David. Cornwall
wda Posted March 21, 2014 Share #3 Posted March 21, 2014 It is worth searching this forum because there have been some useful threads. My alternative is the popular Delkin with M8/M9 plate.

plewislambert Posted March 26, 2014 Share #5 Posted March 26, 2014 I bought a cheap charger from China for my M9 batteries (from China) that takes rather longer than the Leica original to charge them. I charge batteries when I come home from a shoot and I bought another battery to make sure I always had a charged spare. I do find that my M9 is unpredictable in terms of battery charge apparently remaining. Changing a battery in the street is a bit fiddly as I have to pull the half-case off, then the camera bottom, find the spare battery in my bag, fit it and put the bottom back on the camera and refit the case. My cheap shirt-pocket camera was less hassle..... I never had any other problems with my M9 in more than a year of use and the results continue to please. If only the weather were better. patrick parker Posted March 26, 2014 Share #6 Posted March 26, 2014 A good number of the m9 charges are not well made. Mine broke down the same way years ago. The big M8 charges still work well.
