SR44 battery for M7?

Recommended Posts

Hello, which battery do you use on your M7? can I use 4X SR44 1.55v or LR44 1.5v for M7?

You can use 4x SR44 batteries, but apparently it's not recommended... something to do with circuits n' stuff.

Stick to 2x LR44.

According to the manual, "the LEICA M7 requires two 3 volt DL 1/3N type lithium batteries." Perhaps you mean the M6, whose manual says that the "exposure meter can be powered by two 1.55-volt silver oxide button cells, or by one 3-volt lithium cell." The alkaline kind of cell is only nominally 1.5 volts. It does not put out a constant voltage over its life span. [edit] Sorry, I missed the "4X" in the first post, which then has to be about the M7.

Your exposure meter readings will not be accurate or consistent. The LR44's output voltage varies over the cell's life span. The SR44 is much to be preferred as it puts out a constant 1.55 volts.

620max, in Hong Kong you should have no trouble finding either lithium or silver oxide.

Thanks but actually, these are difficult to find at local shop, maybe I need to try purchase from the web's order....

Searching on the Net or on eBay, you turn up almost everything. No single physical shop stocks all things. I live in India, where it seems that SR44 cells and lithium batteries are simply not to be had: so I depend on eBay.

Revitalizing this old thread which I found when googling online - I have also an M7 now, and I wonder if I can use 4x 357 silver oxide batteries instead of the two large ones. I have also an M6 where the 357 batteries with 1.5V are being used (two of them).
