After a rather twisted route, I have returned to the type of image size and quality which I enjoyed producing in the '70's with my medium format Koni-Omega's and Bronica's with Nikkor lenses. Needless to say, it is all digital, and my hands never get wet.

Since I am at the point that I am pleased with what I am able to turn out, I thought it was time to express my thanks to some of the individuals and firms that made this possible. It is also possible to do this without using extremely expensive software (needless to say, some of the hardware is not inexpensive.)

About 1 year ago, I started using a Leica R8 with the DMR digital back. But, yesterday using Bibble Pro, I was able, in one day to go through several hundred shots of Recoleta Cemetery, in Buenos Aires, and winnow the work down to about 85 final shots. While not all are perfect, some of the shots contain incredible detail, and easily support being enlarged and printed in monotone at 20” x 13”.

I want to thank Leica Camera for producing a great digital SLR camera system, Erwin Puts for confirming my thoughts about Bibble Pro as the software to use for processing and adjusting, digital raw files into black and white files. Roy Harrington for creating, and Jon Cone, Inkjetmall and Cone Editions Press, for promoting and recommending, QuadTone Rip to print B&W on my Epson 7600.

How nice to see appreciation! Can I put in my two penn'orth and say a huge thank you to Leica for bring out the M8 and surviving all the flack. Photography has become a pleasure again and I feel liberated to return to a style of reflective, spontaneous work which got me hooked in the first place.

I now carry at least a body + 28 cron with me wherever I go in the confidence that I'll be able to capture any moments that present themselves... WHAT a relief after all those years of spectaculalry efficient but so unpleasurable 1D series cameras...
