Where to get transparencies scanned in the UK?

I have some old transparencies which I would like to get scanned - Velvia 50 and Kodachrome 64. I want high quality scans from a 'professional quality' scanner and I would like 16-bit files (or at least greater than 8 bit). I don't want ICE or any defects dealing with as I want to do this myself). So can anyone suggest a quality scanning service in the UK who would do this?

Chau Digital do a good job on film not sure about slides but I am sure they can advise....High quality photo scanning and digital capture of art.

Try googling Richard Kenward. He's based on the Welsh border and can do very high quality scans.

I am not directly answering your question, but have you considered doing them yourself ? I have scanned several thousand slides, and have achieved good results with a Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 scanner.

 

Once you have sorted out a good workflow (and if you have the SF-210 multi attachment) you can scan in batches of 30-50 slides at a time (depending on mount thickness)

 

Plenty of options with the Nikon scanning software, and some people use Vuescan software, if they have a later OS on their computer. I use a laptop with Windows XP just for scanning, so I use the Nikon software. Best of luck.

Thanks everyone. Ian, I've spoken to Richard Kenward who sounds like he can do the job I want. I've used Nikon Scanners in the past (I had an 8000) but wasn't satisfied that they were up to the quality I wanted, although for many applications they were perfectly acceptable.

I use the same process and its great for slides....I have a 9 year old 1st generation iMac with Nikon s/w - which I hate! - full of bugs and Nikon has never updated the s/w - bad show me thinks!
