London La Posted February 7, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 7, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I shot on a 8GB memory card. I uploaded it to my computer which had a Drobo and another external hard drive attached. The memory card did not get recognised. its said unreadable. Then when putting the card back in the M camera, the camera worked on GO SLOW not processing to the card. I reset the camera, reloaded the latest firmware. still on go slow. I then turned off computer and unplugged all external hard drives. I then formatted the memory card and reset the camera again Turned the camera on and off. the camera works fine now and the card is readable in the computer. I think i jammed the memory card and that in turn didnt work in the camera. Does this all sound plausable or have i done something integral and incorect? really welcome advise. pop Posted February 7, 2014 Share #2 Posted February 7, 2014 You have to take great care not to remove the memory card from your camera or from your computer while it is still writing to it. Turn the camera off and wait until the red light is off before removing the card. Tell your computer that you're about to remove the card and then wait until the computer says (in its own way) that it is done using the card. There's always the possibility that a card becomes rotten all of its own, even if it does not occur often.

Lara Are you using a Mac and running Mavericks?? Drobo has real issues w/ Mavericks, try upgrading latest Drobo firmware. Also card reader incompatibility with Mavericks. I've had more of an issue with Compact Flash Cards (Canon) then I have had with SD. Mainly because I plug card directly in SD slot on iMac or PowerBook Pro thereby bypassing the card reader.
