cme4brain Posted April 22, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Help! I cannot seem to get PhotoShop Elements 5.0 to run under VISTA, even if I designate it as a WindowsXP file type! I keep getting some abberant .dll file request to run, or to open some HTML file. Has anyone else had this problem and can offer help?

john_nyc Posted April 22, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 22, 2007 I've seen problems like that occur under Vista-64, but not 32 bit. Â Which are you running? Â I've never run Elements, but when I was setting up 64 bit and trying to get DIVX to work, I had to copy various dll files from my XP partition until it stopped complaining. Eventually it worked. Have you tried doing something like that? Â I've actually gotten Vista 32 running pretty well, with all of my hardware functioning (Spyder Pro, R2400, CS 5000, etc). Some XP drivers actually work better under Vista than Vista drivers, I've discovered. Â For some reason I keep on using XP Pro, though. Maybe because it does everything I need an OS to do? I've run every successive release of Vista since the first beta and it's never succeeded in impressing me.

I ask about vista as I bought a new computer with VISTA installed (32 bit I think) and NO OPTION to run under XP. Even if I designate the program Elements to run under Windwos XP instead of VISTA, I still get errors, and other programs blow up and cannot even be un-installed. I nearly had a computer meltdown with not finding DLL files and had to restore my new computer to the new state when I opened the box. I am of the conclusion that until a patch is made Photoshop Elements 5.0 cannot be run under VISTA.

MrSlezak Posted April 22, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted April 22, 2007 There are a number of Adobe programs that need to run as Administrator in Windows Vista so they can write a file or something to a directory that is "locked down". Might give that a shot as well.
