alexc Posted April 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like to use manual focus in A mode. Does somebody know how to know DOF in Digilux2. I also have D-lux 3 which has very convinient feature. When you use manual focus it shows you a bar with distance. Thank you in advance

doubice Posted April 21, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 21, 2007 Alex, The reason that the D-lux 3 has the distance bar is because it has no traditional focusing ring, like the Digilux 2 does. The Digilux 2 has a focusing scale on the lens so there is no need for the distance bar on the screen - the information on the focusing scale is far more accurate than the distance bar. As to depth of field - this is where digital cameras with small sensors differ from regular 35mm film cameras (or full frame sensor cameras). The lens on the Digilux 2 has a range of 7 - 22mm and its depth of field will be huge. If you want to decrease the DOF, you’ll have to use the camera in aperture priority mode and set the aperture to f:2. Or - use manual mode, again setting the aperture at f:2 and control the exposure by changing the shutter speed. If the light level is too high for the f:2 aperture, you might have to use a Neutral Density filter to limit the amount of light reaching the sensor.
