andybarton Posted April 21, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been running the CS3 beta since it came along at Christmas, but am having a real mare installing the real thing, downloaded last night. Â I suspect (but haven't proven) that it may be due to the ._sif hack that allows Mac users to use the beta for what seems to be an unlimited time. The uninstaller doesn't remove this file, leaving some beta folders etc intact. Â I will report back should I be successful... Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

andybarton Posted April 21, 2007 Author Share #6 Â Posted April 21, 2007 Life was so simple when all you had to do to install software was drag a folder from the CD to your HD, and all you had to do to uninstall it was drag the folder to the Trash and empty... Downloaded the new CS3 and followed the instructions (including the instructions for uninstalling the beta copy). The PS part of CS3 would not install. The error message provided no information at all. Â Running the cleaning script solves the problem, but I'm disappointed with Adobe for not anticipating this issue. Jamie Roberts Posted April 22, 2007 Share #15 Â Posted April 22, 2007 On the PC--you just need to ensure that you uninstall the beta completely--that includes fonts and adobe shared stuff (it's only CS 3, it's not CS2). Â I couldn't install CS 3 on Windows unless I completely and totally uninstalled CS3 beta. Afterwards--no problems at all (I also installed to a new location). Â Boy is it worth it, though. I love the Beta version except that damned if I can make the "Print" mode, which is supposed to replace "Print with Preview" work properly. It always defaults to A4 paper even after setting it up to another size. Â I am left using Beta CS3 for editing my images but going back to CS2 for printing them....not a very nice workflow! Jamie Roberts Posted April 23, 2007 Share #19 Â Posted April 23, 2007 @ David--print seems to work OK for me (Windows XP) Â @ Simone--sheer performance increase is worth the price of admission for me (Windows XP), as is the histogram in the curves palette (and "show clipping" in curves is also equally brilliant).
