It always takes me ages to get somewhere by car. I'll probably skip it this year when I'm heading to Wales again.

tookaphotoof Posted March 21, 2014 Author Share #23 Posted March 21, 2014 Lovely photo. Received an offer for a new M240 by mail today. It's a shock and a great deal at the same time. It actually means they are giving me back far more for a Leica with a flaw, than a dealer would, even if my M8.2 was in a perfect condition. I need a good sleep to think it over but I might just go for it. April holiday had been cancelled anyways because I didn't know what to expect after sending in my camera. tenezus Posted March 21, 2014 Share #24 Posted March 21, 2014 Sounds exciting!! Please share the figures: I know every case would be different but I die to have some coffee on my M8!! tookaphotoof Posted March 22, 2014 Author Share #25 Posted March 22, 2014 You've got a pm as I usually don't put prices up in public. I quite liked the b/w output of the M8.2 and also the colour output if I have enough daylight. So I wasn't wishing for the coffee stain. However, I can't be more happy with the end result as initially, my problem with the camera was a sensor I didn't seem to be able to clean, whilst I never had a problem with the 5d2. tenezus Posted March 22, 2014 Share #26 Posted March 22, 2014 Answer your PM. I couldn't agree more it is a little B&w camera. Although it is annoying that ISO is so noisy, the slow buffer and the battery life. I am very happy coming from the fuji and 3/4 lots...
Doc Henry Posted March 23, 2014 Share #27 Posted March 23, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Tooka, it's very easy to clean himself its sensor ! Pity that I am away from your home, if not I'll do it M8 and M8.2 are very good cameras First try the blower and after the "Arctic Butterfy brush"! and if "grease"sensor swab with Eclipse fluid ! tookaphotoof Posted March 23, 2014 Author Share #28 Posted March 23, 2014 Thanks for the offer Henry. I'm in France every year when time permits. However, in the end I've used 3 packs of Vdust swabs with 4 different cleaning solutions including eclipse. With my 5D2 I usually need one swab to be done with it. As Leica is offering me far more for my M8.2 than I have payed for I'm going to take their offer exchanging it for the M240. This way I don't need to invest in a wider lens for digital. The 28mm Elmarit will be wide enough for my needs. I'll most likely sell the 5D2 body and concentrate on my rangefinders for a full year. I need to improve my focussing on fast moving subjects. Doc Henry Posted March 23, 2014 Share #29 Posted March 23, 2014 Tooka, in your place, I'll keep the M8 (CCD). It makes beautiful pictures and the colors are beautiful like Kodak Portra. In addition we can have nice b&w.I rarely miss my photos with the M8 The difference in money I have left, I buy the Leica lens I do not like the color of M (Cmos) and I don't need video ! tookaphotoof Posted March 23, 2014 Author Share #31 Posted March 23, 2014 Lovely photo Henri. If it wasn't for the fact I'd love the idea of a full frame M, I might have kept it. The M8 keeps on tumbling down in price so If I feel the need of getting one back it's probably just around 800 next year. About the lenses, I own a 28, 35 and 50 which already cover all my needs. tenezus Posted March 23, 2014 Share #32 Posted March 23, 2014 You are right! The colours are absolutely lovely! I do like an M but it is hard to justify a newer body. I think I might just buy summilux instead? What would u recommend? Best
tookaphotoof Posted March 23, 2014 Author Share #33 Posted March 23, 2014 It all depends on your needs and personal wishes I think. I have a summicron 50 and 35. My 28 is an Elmarit. They all use the same filter size which I find important. I shoot a lot of black and white on film so being able to use the color filters on every lens saves me a lot of money. If you only shoot digital and you only have one or two filters, that might not be an issue. In the years I've learned you better save up and buy what you want in the first place, otherwise you'll swap it later on anyway, which might cost you more in the end. Doc Henry Posted March 23, 2014 Share #34 Posted March 23, 2014 Tenezius and Tooka, Erwin Puts said the M8-M9 provides "vivid" color while the M240 a neutral color. He's right. CCD remains unbeatable for the quality of the color. I know the owners of M will tell me that I delirium Lens as Summilux (35 and 50) are also unbeatable as rendering quality Look at these pictures : http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/landscape-travel/325507-pictures-mission.html Henry
tookaphotoof Posted March 23, 2014 Author Share #35 Posted March 23, 2014 Most of my photos are shot with HP5+ so I don't have to deal with the vivid vs neutral discussion too much.
tenezus Posted March 23, 2014 Share #36 Posted March 23, 2014 The CCD is indeed amazing! I have a M8 and I have been processing mostly B&w butI will start using my Leica more often. The lens situation is tough! I am debating where
