peterv Posted January 16, 2014 Share #2  Posted January 16, 2014 Nice add by Apple. It says on the page you linked he made it himself: New York‑based filmmaker Josh Apter has created a housing for iPad that turns it into a lightweight, portable moviemaking camera. Guest redge Posted January 19, 2014 Share #5  Posted January 19, 2014 Here's some info on how this works: Movie Mount for iPad 2, 3, 4 & Mini: camera mount for iPad. Attach tripod, conversion lenses and hotshoe accessories  I think that attaching a microphone is useless unless one is very close to the sound source, and even then I'd rather use an external sound recorder and microphone.  The ability to use an adapter and lens to change the view of the iPad's native lens is very interesting.  Last week, in New York, I was in a store that was selling this technology. I'm fairly sure that it is quite available and that Mr. Apter is not the only person doing this.  It's kind of funny that as recently as a year ago, people understood the idea of iPhone photos and video, but were laughing at people who took photos with an iPad, let alone video. In Sicily, where I spent most of last winter, I regularly used my iPad to take photos, and occasionally video. I was pretty happy with the results, and it was a very easy/quick way to make and send photos to friends and to post on social media.

sanyasi Posted January 20, 2014 Author Share #7 Â Posted January 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) What originally caught my eye was the microphone. In the ad--without stopping it or enlarging it--I thought the microphone was a viewfinder, which would be very cool, but I couldn't figure out how it was physically attached to the iPad. mwilliamsphotography Posted January 21, 2014 Share #8  Posted January 21, 2014 Great humanistic ad from Apple.  Ingenious device.  Watched the video, and it shows use of an external viewfinder for shooting in bright light.  The lens mount is pretty cool also.  I wonder if one of these could be used on it somehow?  Sony DSC-QX100 Smartphone Attachable Lens-Style Camera - B&H Photo  - Marc
