euston Posted January 16, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted January 16, 2014 Very enjoyable! Thank you! When an accomplished photographer finds so much to like, it speaks well for the camera. Â The photography is impressive but, to put things in perspective, I reckon it's one percent camera and ninety-nine percent talent.

Likaleica Posted January 26, 2014 Share #9 Â Posted January 26, 2014 A picture speaks a thousand words. In this case bunches of pictures speak bunches of thousands of words. Finally, a review that eschews technical data and pixel peeping and goes right to the meat of it. The image. Simply put, the XV is a well-built camera with a phenomenal lens and a great sensor with analog controls that liberate the creative photographer. The more I use it the more astounded I am. Great review! Incredible photos. Thank you!

Likaleica Posted January 28, 2014 Share #11  Posted January 28, 2014 I spent the day yesterday with my XV, my M240 (with a few lenses), and a tripod. Of the three items I used only two. The tripod and the XV. I had a blast.  Took this to France in Sept just after I bought it. Risky but a good decision. I did a little Blurb book of photos using just the XV. Here's the link  http://www.blurb.com/pdf_book/389303/download?expires=1390891011&signature=8b0935d9c27979d49ac7ad59827057d7260dd76a  This camera is FUN! wda Posted January 28, 2014 Share #14  Posted January 28, 2014 I think this will work LYON | Photo book preview | Blurb Books Tim, a very fine and interesting collection, tastefully presented in book form. One suggestion for future low-light work; don't be afraid to use Auto ISO with max setting up to 6400. You will detect noise, but it can be removed quite effectively in LR or Noise Ninja or Nik Dfine. If you do not have the Nik plug-ins from Google, they are worth considering for rather more than noise reduction. Some amazing power, but you must spend time learning how to use them effectively. tundraline Posted February 9, 2014 Share #18 Â Posted February 9, 2014 Thanks very much for the review and good photos. After struggling with the compact camera question for quite a while (I also have an X1), yesterday I ordered an X-Vario. It will go with me to Manitoba towards the end of this week, and I'll then put it through its cold-weather paces. I am really looking forward to finding out what this little gem will be able to do. Â it will do wonders. take your time and enjoy every click. Don't forget to shoot DNG + JPG, if you like B&W, set the JPG to shoot B&W high contrast, this way you get the best of both words :-) PS: a friend of mine who is an everest conquerer once gave me an advise about shooting in cold places. Put a spare batterie the closest to your body in order to keep it warm. Cold may cause a fully charged battery to shoot just a couple of shots before stopping to work. Â Waiting for you pictures form your trip.

Waiting for you pictures form your trip.  I will report back next week. Just hoping my spare batteries show up before I leave. Otherwise I'll have to take my chances with a single battery. Usually I put spare batteries next to my body (when I have them). The temp forecast does not look too bad, though (between -5 F and +16 F). So I'll probably be fine.  Also, thanks for the tip re. B&W!
