barjohn Posted January 15, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted January 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just received my XV back from Leica repair where they repaired the random miss-focus the camera was having. When I say miss-focus, I don't mean it focused on the higher contrast object behind or near where the focus box was placed but rather if the subject was 3 meters away it would focus at .5m. Â I haven't had it long enough to verify the problem is fixed but I certainly hope it is. In any case, I would have sworn that the menu system showed Ver 1.0 as the firmware version and now it shows XV-07000. Anyone else's camera showing this version? barjohn Posted January 15, 2014 Author Share #3 Â Posted January 15, 2014 I wonder if this is an updated firmware to address this issue or a beta release to fix this issue.
papimuzo Posted January 15, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted January 15, 2014 Mine shows 1.0 Interesting anyway, perhaps (hope) an indication that an update is on the road?
wda Posted January 15, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted January 15, 2014 Interesting, but no. Its structure is odd.
satijntje Posted January 15, 2014 Share #6  Posted January 15, 2014 I know that Leica is working actively on a upgrade for the FW. This info I received already from a very trustful source in November 2013.... Maybe you received the first test version of the 2.0:D  Any significant differences?  John  BTW, I bought a second hand VX today for such a nice price that I could not say no to it. So I might do some comparisons between the 6k€ M and the XV and see if readers here will find the correct pic to the correct cam!

barjohn Posted January 15, 2014 Author Share #8 Â Posted January 15, 2014 I can not see any significant difference. I too thought the number structure was strange. The repair report said they replaced the lens assembly and focus module and tested for AF. The body and serial number is the same.

satijntje Posted January 16, 2014 Share #10  Posted January 16, 2014 I sold after my holidays the XV as I could get a new M240. This week however I received am unbeatable offer for a mint second hand X-Vario with grip, and I could not resist to this offer, so I'm re-buying the XV again.  I will pair it with the M240 muaaaahh. Maybe the child will be an X with removable lenses (or a T model that is coming up soon???).   If I look back to the pics that were made with the XV, I can only conclude that this indeed is a very fine camera with an excellent lens!  Ciao  John Welcome, dear visitor!
