portocar Posted April 20, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) has anyone tried a ringflash with the M8? (I'm refering to the large ones used for fashion work, not macro photography.) Is it feasable?

Guest licht Posted April 20, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 20, 2007 My Profoto Acute Ring with Widesoft-Reflector is best with Hasselblad, it´s ok with the D2X but it´s unsuitable wih any Leica M (you can´t see through the viewfinder). But given that it is digital, you could focus based on distance/DoF and then view the image for composure after the fact, no? While it may not be optimal, you still get the benefits of the leica glass. I'm sure after a bunch of tests you'd be able easily visualize the frame while standing next to the camera/ringflash setup. Guest licht Posted April 20, 2007 Share #7 Posted April 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Photography is about composition, so I want to see what I will get on the picture... With the Hasselblad and the "Lichtschachtsucher" I see the model and can communicate, with the DSLR I disappear completly behind the ringflash, I can see the model, but the model just can see the machine and can hear my voice - with the leica m I can´t see the model and the model can´t see me... robertwright Posted April 20, 2007 Share #8 Posted April 20, 2007 ...after one flash from the ring flash I can guarantee you the model cannot see you..or anything for that matter....he/she sees "0" everywhere...
