JohannB Posted February 14, 2014 Author Share #21 Posted February 14, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is a pleasure Mike. Had the links from the research I did before I got the 3880. Just note the working space required around the 4900. This is what made it too big for my workspace. Johann
Advertisement Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Hi JohannB, Take a look here Epson 4900. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mike Lavigne Posted February 14, 2014 Share #22 Posted February 14, 2014 I think the extra 6" at the back of the diagram is recommended as room for large paper to feed through, not the actual cabinetry. If so, that can be accomplished by merely moving the cabinet away from the wall 6" or more. That's why the Ikea cabinets (the same I was considering) would have been fine, even though they're slightly under 26" deep. My friend got his 4900 for not much over $1500 after discounts and rebates; seems crazy to spend that much on just the cabinet, especially one with shallow drawers, IMHO. Jeff the space is an upstairs rec room (in a barn) with a pool table and this is in an alcove next to a window. so reducing clutter of other paper storge approaches and footprints rationaizes the high expense of the flat paper file cabinet. and there is lots of room to pull the cabinet out on it's castors and get all around it when i'm using it. i don't anticipate needing larger drawers for larger paper. time will tell the logic of that. other printer stands i considered that i would have been happy with were $300-$500 anyway.....and sturdy enough loaded down with castors was a question. then i'd need a paper cabinet of some sort too. i still have not pulled the trigger on any of this so i do appreciate the dose of reality to my plan. thanks. Jeff S Posted February 14, 2014 Share #23 Posted February 14, 2014 Too bad Epson discontinued this one; you could have bought 4 of them, with money left for paper. If you're pleased, that's all that matters. For that price difference, I'd still be looking, including at IT Supplies. BTW, I still don't think you need 26", per my other post, as long as you can move it away from the back wall, which clearly you can. I like the deeper drawers, not because of larger papers, but because of flexibility to stack boxes and store other related photo stuff. I have portfolio drawer cabinets from Ikea, similar to the one you posted, but in wood, from Ikea for under $300. I use these for storing prints. They're very sturdy, and on wheels, but unfortunately not quite big enough for your purpose. Jeff
