I just received a 3 Cam R 28mm f2.8 Elmarit V2 from an ebay sale. The lens is probably in Mint or possibly close to like new condition as it was reported by the seller.

Everything seems to operated fine- focus was smooth and tight, aperture rings was fine and tight and the apertures open and closes as it should, glass looks quite good (will have to look a bit closer through the lens to see if there might be any issues).

But, I noticed a rattling sound when I shake the lens the lens somewhat like what you hear if you shake the 1.4X or 2 X Apo Extendenders or the Macro Adapter R.

I shook about 9 other R lenses and I have not noticed this rattling sound. Is there something about this lens that is different that might cause this or I should be concerned about? I will test the lens for performance. I put a call into Leica USA and went over my observations. Leica had indicated that it could be the aperture blades. They will try to get back to me and let me know if they find out anything about the lens that might cause this.

If anyone has any ideas or thinks the lens is fine and doesn't need to be checked or adjusted please comment.
