clogwog Posted April 19, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just received a d-lux 3 for my wife (well she hasn't actually been able to touch it as it has been in my grubby little hands!!). But it is obvious to me I need more/bigger memory card/s and more batterries. Can d-lux 3 users reveal what cards (incl brand/size) they are using? Do you have additional batteries? Has anyone bought memory cards of eBay and how was that experience? Same for batteries? Â Also are SDHC cards suitable for a d-lux 3, the info I have found till now contradicts. Â Thanks, Â Gerrit

sebastian Posted April 19, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 19, 2007 I use a 2 gig Sandisk Ultra II which holds about 80 raw files (raw write speed about 4 seconds) or nearly 400 fine jpgs. I also have two 1 gig and two 512 mb PNY cards (made by Toshiba) that are standard speed with about a 6 or 7 second raw write time. PNY are sort of "off brand," but I've never had any problem with them. Â The DL3 can use 4 gig SDHC cards, according to the manual, but I haven't tried one. To each his or her own, but I'd rather carry several smaller cards than one giant one so if it dies I'm not SOL. Â I do carry a second battery and rotate them through, but the DL3 battery life is very good and I've never gone through one in a day's shooting. Â I've never bought a card off E-Bay, but I hear horror stories about counterfeits, so use caution. Good cards at low prices show up on sale at US office supply stores fairly often. The 2 gig Sandisk was less than $40.
bernd_muc Posted April 20, 2007 Share #3  Posted April 20, 2007 Can d-lux 3 users reveal what cards (incl brand/size) they are using?I'm using OCZ Secure Digital Dual Memory Cards which have a built-in USB connector, so you don't need to carry around a card reader. Also are SDHC cards suitable for a d-lux 3, the info I have found till now contradicts.Well, I made the mistake to buy a Transcend 4GB 150x SD card which the D-Lux 3 doesn't like at all. But actually, it is pretty simple: Up to 2GB, get "normal" SD cards (the ones with speed measurements like 80x, 133x, 150x). From 4GB and larger, you must use SDHC cards (which usually have a prominent SDHC logo on them and come in speed classes - 2, 4, and 6).  Do you have additional batteries? Has anyone bought memory cards of eBay and how was that experience?I bought batteries for my old camera once and they are okay for the price. Not a real comparison to the original battery, but I will get one or two batteries for my D-Lux 3 on ebay again. Best, Bernd
