jip Posted December 16, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My mother has gotten creative lately and she was kind of jealous of my Leica so I got her a minilux (she likes shooting film so she can see results immediately in the store, I laughed about her saying 'immediately') Anyway, any tips or must know about the camera? thanks

Lee Martin Posted December 16, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 16, 2013 It might sound daft but I had one and handed it to a relative who Wasn't a photographer to take a couple of photos. The shutter release and sound of the shutter is so quiet that it's easy to take more than you need or want. Other than that it's a super sharp lens . Just check the LCD display on top is not showing any error messages
masjah Posted December 16, 2013 Share #3 Posted December 16, 2013 I know it's stating the obvious, but if your mother is not an experienced photographer, she just needs to be aware of the way the autofocus works. The autofocus is of course one spot defined by what is in the little rectangle at the centre, so she needs to be aware of how to play it if the object she wants to be in the plane of focus is at a different distance from what is in the central rectangle - it's probably explained in the instruction booklet. The camera has an almost embarrassingly good lens for the price; classic double-Gauss Summicron look, only half a stop slower. I'm sure she'll love it. jip Posted December 17, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted December 17, 2013 Thanks guys, she will get the hang if it quickly, she used to take pics of me as a kid with a old Nikon DSLR, one of the first to have autofocus so she has some experience with photography in general and probably knows more then the 'average mum' about cameras. Haha She just didn't like the digital cam I have her since she doesn't like using a computer (she's always on her smartphone) but rarely on her computer. She rather bring the roll of film to the developer and have it printed on standard size glossy paper, like most people used to do 'it' back in the day (as in a few years ago still) (Yes stating the fact that she used a Nikon with autofocus when I was a kid means I am young. Haha)
