D Lux 5 Question - Using Custom Mode

Please refer page 91 of user manual. I plan to use a small Olympus S20 auto flash occasionally as it gives a little more flash power than the built in flash. For this I set the camera to M mode with a setting of ISO 400 f/5.6 and 1/250 sec. Then I register this as a custom setting in C1. This will be the standard setting that I will use whenever the Olympus flash is used.

However there are times that I will need to tweak the aperture slightly for a brighter exposure; changing aperture setting from f/5.6 to f/4 (temporarily).

The problem I have experienced is that this temporary change has become permanent in my custom setting C1 without even registering it again. I tested this by turning the camera off and back on again turning to C1 mode; it has now changed to f/4 instead of the original setting of f/5.6.

The menu states: Even if the menu settings are changed temporarily with [ C1], [C2-1 ], [C2-2] or [C2-3] selected, what has been registered will remain unchanged.

I am puzzled and appreciate if someone who has the answer could enlighten me, thanks.
