Marct40 Posted December 10, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Being a past nikon JPEG user and new m240 DNG user , I thought it was about time I revisited my picture storage flow. I currently use aperture which is ok but wondered what other people use and why. I like to keep files off my apple imac and store them on external back up drives. Any suggestions for large libraries? Advertisement Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Hi Marct40, Take a look here Photo management. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guido Posted December 10, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 10, 2013 Adobe Lightroom works fine with external disks, and images can be written to two disks simultaneously already at the import stage. LR databases (catalogs) and corresponding image files can be on the same drive or on different drives depending on your choice. While I'm not there yet myself, I've read from others that scalability >100'000 images per catalog seems to work without problems.
