ericperlberg Posted April 18, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've noticed that the user profile changes from Profile 1 (my choice) to no profile selected without any input on my behalf. Does changing the EV or ISO automatically disengage the current profile choice and send the camera to no profile? It's a tad annoying since it also turns off lens detection. Sometimes. Â I can understand if changing the EV changes the profile number but it shouldn't change the settings elsewhere in the menu (IMO). I suspect this is user error. Does it happen to anyone else? Did I miss a magic paragraph in the manual? :
Advertisement Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Hi ericperlberg, Take a look here User Profile resetting itself. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
steve_l Posted April 18, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 18, 2007 This is correct operation. The M8 profile includes *ALL* of the settings - actually a nice thing, most of the time. So changing anything at all invalidates your profile.
ericperlberg Posted April 18, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted April 18, 2007 Thanks Steve. Â Have to admit it still doesn't make sense to me. If you go to change the EV setting in SET I wind up having to switch to the Menu just to re-engage the lens detection. Surely there is a more logical way of doing this? For example, change something in the SET menu, pop out of the profile (that part makes sense) but leave all other settings at what they just were except for the one change the user is making. Or at least move the lens detection to the SET menu. Am I the only person bothered by this (fearing the answer is yes).
