yadillah Posted April 18, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I mostly take RAW pivtures and have always done so with my D200. I now have an M8. When I download them onto my computer I do so with a card reader. then I want to browse through my shots, just to have a look, and also to discard any that are no good. I use ACDsee as my viewer and sorter. The DNG pictures from my M8 will not show up, although in the file types recognized by ACDsee, includes DNG. It seems, at the moment, that I have to take RAW plus JPEG so that i can view my pictures before processing them in C1. Has anyone else come across this problem? bradreiman Posted April 18, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 18, 2007 Hi-Not sure about ACDSee but the .DNG format comprises many different manufacturers RAW files and they are all different. For example, in Aperture, the software recognizes various DNG's from other cameras but is yet to support m8 DNG files....B
andybarton Posted April 18, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 18, 2007 Are you using a Mac? With the latest System update? Â If so, this is a known problem. Â Do a search on this forum to see discussions that have been taking place a couple of months ago.
RainerJ Posted April 18, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted April 18, 2007 Hi, the DNG files can be treated like TIF files, and then you are able to see at least some kind of thumbnail quality view of your picture in ACDSee. There was a post here in this forum with a registry script for windows, to make that setting, if that thumbnail preview is enough, I could search the forum for the file. Or just try to open a DNG-File with ACDSee, or just connect your Leica per USB cable, then you will have TIF files anyway, or rename a file from DNG to TIF, and try that. Â Hi, I also tried to use ACDsee with Leica-DNGs. No chance. I updated everything ACDsee offered. Then switched to C1 and will try Lightroom soon. Spent a lot of money and time for ACDsee "professional" whatever that is - and now I forget it. Seems, that there is no support for Leica-DNGs.
