djh63 Posted November 28, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, my name is David and I have just joined your Forum. I am a long-time photographer and currently shoot both digital and film (but not yet Leica). I have become more and more interested in the Leica M system and I am currently looking at an M6 which I believe would be a great fit for my style of shooting. The camera in question is being offered with 2 lenses- one of which mounts correctly and looks great (but doesn't interest me) and the other, sadly, doesn't seem to mount properly. After placing the lens on the mount and turning it, I was unable to get the lens to click into place. Is there something obvious which I should be doing (and not being a Leica person don't yet realize)? The lens looks great and seems to function properly so I am really at a loss as to what the problem may be. Many thanks for any help which you may be able to offer! EDIT: My apologies for starting this thread in the wrong area.

wda Posted November 28, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 28, 2013 Welcome to the forum, David. The M6 is a classic provided it is in good order. But the lenses are questionable. Can you give more details of the lenses and the actual problem? Normally a bayonet lens will just rotate and click into place if lined up correctly to begin with. (Dimple on lens and starting position on the camera mount). Any obstruction suggests distortion of a lens flange and/or camera.
djh63 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted November 28, 2013 Thanks David. The outfit does look to be in very good condition and little used. My thoughts were that seeing as one lens (135/4) mounted correctly, then the camera mount should be ok. The other lens (35/1.4) would not mount and I am guessing that the problem lies with the lens. The actual glass looks good and I can't see any signs of damage......
wda Posted November 28, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 28, 2013 I would agree with your conclusion that it is probably the 35mm lens flange which is marginally faulty. If buying it from a dealer, he should fix it for you. If from a friend, then agree a price which factors in remedial work for which you or he will need to obtain an estimate.
