jrovner Posted November 18, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 18, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just received my standard handgrip and large fingerloop from Camera West in Rancho Mirage, and I'm delighted with them. I can already tell the fingerloop will be more practical than a wrist strap. And because it leaves the lugs free, I can use the loop alongside a shoulder strap. I also picked up a couple of extra batteries. Maybe this means the backlog for M241 accessories is about over.

algrove Posted November 18, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 18, 2013 Jeff About what glove size do you wear? Might want to get a rubber band on steroids myself.
01af Posted November 18, 2013 Share #3 Posted November 18, 2013 My glove size is 8 (or M) ... so I expected Leica finger loop size M to fit me—and S being for ladies. To my surprise, however, finger loop size S fits me just fine, and M clearly is too big for me. I guess L is for adult Yetis.
brill64 Posted November 19, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 19, 2013 ..the rubber band on steroids is that, minimal but try not to be fooled by it's simplicity. It's cleverly designed & a very well made product for the M grip, nonetheless. In use it's functional & stabilises your grip on the camera one-handed, especially since the camera is already quite heavy for some. Large gloves means a large loop, which shouldn't be too tight or loose. I don't have huge hands but buy large gloves for ease of getting on and off in cold weather. Better to try out before buying if at all possible.
viramati Posted November 19, 2013 Share #5 Posted November 19, 2013 Ok so I'm used to leica prices but really £90 for this really is outrageous. I wait to see if some Chinese manufacture will come up with something
01af Posted November 19, 2013 Share #6 Posted November 19, 2013 I wait to see if some Chinese manufacture will come up with something. I guess these loops and their specific fixing are patented so I wouldn't expect any aftermarket solutions anytime soon

jrovner Posted November 19, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted November 19, 2013 I'm afraid I'm not sure of my glove size, Algrove. I bought the large size on the recommendation of some online source that said the loops ran on the small size, and it's a good fit for me. Even with the Noctilux attached, the M is easy and comfortable to handle with the grip/loop combination.

jrovner Posted November 20, 2013 Author Share #10 Posted November 20, 2013 On my size large fingerloop, the oval finger opening is slightly more than eight centimeters in the long dimension, and about 3.5 centimeters in the short dimension.
01af Posted November 20, 2013 Share #11 Posted November 20, 2013 ... slightly more than eight centimeters in the long dimension, and about 3.5 centimeters in the short dimension. Gosh! My whole hand would fit in this. The size S loop is 43 mm × 18 mm (measured on the inside).
Overland Posted November 20, 2013 Share #12 Posted November 20, 2013 The size S loop is 43 mm × 18 mm (measured on the inside). By the way: The size oft the "M" loop is 48 mm × 20 mm. My glove size is also 8 (M). On my fingers the loop fit perfectly. The width of the two fingers in the lopp appears to be more relevant than the length. Conclusion: First try - then buy. Considering the chronic overproduction of Leica products, it will be no problem to test the loop in many photo stores around the world ;-)

I am sure the Chinese manufacturer will pay for the repair of the damaged camera when the loop failed to do what it was supposed to do and therefore the camera landed on the ground... viramati Posted November 20, 2013 Share #14 Posted November 20, 2013 Actually I already have the standard grip and wouldn't buy the finger loop even if it was half the price as I really don't find it necessary. all the same £90 for a rubber loop and screw with a large head seems a little OTT. flyalf Posted November 21, 2013 Share #15 Posted November 21, 2013 Question from an ignorant; the Finger Loop is only for handgrip, or can it be used on M only?
Dougg Posted November 21, 2013 Share #16 Posted November 21, 2013 Only for the Handgrip, Alf. I was happy to get my standard grip delivered last week, two days before leaving on vacation, cutting it a bit close. But it's a nice improvement in the security of handling the camera. So far I'm not tempted by the finger loop...

Jeff, presumably that would allow you to pass three fingers through the loop?
algrove Posted November 21, 2013 Share #18 Posted November 21, 2013 Good question as I do not remember how many fingers I go through it at Photokina nor do I remember even asking about sizes there too.
wda Posted November 21, 2013 Share #19 Posted November 21, 2013 Remarkable customer service from Leica Mayfair. I asked for internal dimensions of the finger loops and received this answer after closing time. Nowhere in the marketing literature does this information appear; yet it is vital to potential customers. So Well Done Leica Mayfair! Hi David, Please find the internal dimensions for the finger loops below; S – 45mm x 18mm M – 49mm x 20mm L – 53mm x 22mm If you have further queries please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
