algrove Posted November 14, 2013 Share #21 Posted November 14, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I prefer to use an eye cup on everything I put my glasses up against. Makes circles on the glasses, but they don't get scratched.
Advertisement Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Hi algrove, Take a look here Eyesight and RF. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ns_ng Posted November 15, 2013 Share #22 Posted November 15, 2013 I have high myopia and astigmatism. With my prescription lenses, I can see very well, but not 20/20. But I find I can still focus accurately with the rf. I do use a magnifier, at first the Leica X1.25 and now the MS-MAG X1.35. The MS-MAG adjustable dioptre is the feature I find very helpful in viewing the rf. Leica's dioptres are from -3 to +3, in step of 1. Of course, it does help that my prescription lenses are from Zeiss using high index glass with Zeiss coatings. N S Ng
Dougg Posted November 15, 2013 Share #23 Posted November 15, 2013 Develop cataracts! After eye surgery for cataracts, my right eye is well-tuned for using the RF while my left eye is better at distance. Very useful, I was able for the very first time to pass a drivers' license exam with no glasses... So I generally just take my glasses off for photography. (The glasses are still useful for reading and night-driving). So there's a solution you can look forward to...
zoe Posted November 15, 2013 Share #24 Posted November 15, 2013 When I first got my M9 two years ago I went through this process with my eye doctor. I wear eye glasses some of the time for distance. I brought a pack of daily contact lenses. Used them on a couple of shoots. Somewhere, sometime in this process I stop using them and don't use anything to focus with...my eye eventually just got use to the patch. I am saying people starting out with a rangefinder should just give it some time and they may find they don't need anything after all except time to get use to the new focus system. algrove Posted November 15, 2013 Share #25 Posted November 15, 2013 Well, if someone has -6 in his shooting eye, I cannot for the life of me figure out how my eye will adjust to the RF patch.
