T-Max 3200 At Box Speed

Hello all.

Made a little mistake recently and instead of shooting my T-Max 3200 at 1600 I shot it at box speed/3200.

I am thinking of stand development with Rodinal/Adonal. Does anyone have a recipe?

I'm not against trying a new developer but I really dig the results of stand development with Rodinal/Adonal. Here's an example of Rodinal 1+100 for stand developing Tri-X 400 at 1600 for 90 minutes but that's for one roll in a four spool can. I now have four rolls of T-Max 3200 and I would like to develop them all at the same time. Should my developer/water ratio change? If so what should it be?

Thanks for taking the time.

The real speed of Tmax 3200 is around iso 1000, depending a bit of which kind of developer you are going to use.

Further the film is obselete and maybe already around expiration date so the base fog will rise quickly.

I suggest a speed enhance type developer with low fog parameters like: HC-110 1+31 (dilution B), or Tmax developer.

With Rodinal / R09 o.s. you will loose at least 1/3F stop (iso 800) so your E.I. 3200 is then a push +2 development which is already the real limit.

A stand development is really compensating and at least less sharp then a regular Rodinal / R09 o.s. development. Further you have always a risk of uneven development.

When it was my film I put it in HC-110 (which contains Benzotriazole, which suppresses the base fog). If you want I could sent you a very small bottle, because HC-110 (Kodak) is only available in 1 ltr. bottles which means > 100 135-36 films. The thick sirup contains Glycol so you can keep it over 3-4 years.

Bedankt Robert, voor het aanbod, super cool van je.

I've been meaning to try HC-110 but I started last year with Diafine and did this for a year. This year it's Rodinal's turn and next is HC-110.

I developed about 40 rolls of Tri-X with Rodinal. Most were at box speed, some where pushed to 800 and I pushed some to 1600 and 1250 for stand development.

I found a spot with Rodinal where I am quite comfy at the moment and I'm happy with the results i've been getting. It was a bit of a revelation coming from Diafine. Don't get me wrong, not panning Diafine as I still get back to it but Rodinal was an eye opener. Pun intended :)

One year, one developer comes as a good thing to add to the famous "one year, one camera, one lens".

Nothing really important on those rolls. It's mainly my friends in their daily lives as well as some street stuff. I mean, don't get me wrong, I treat every shot and roll with the same importance, it's just that I can sacrifice this for the sake of experiment and not be too bummed out about it.

After spending too much time online reading about stand development (with Tri-X it was a breeze, T-Max 3200 on the other hand...) I think i am going to stand develop three rolls in a four spool metal can with a 12ML+900ML Rodinal/water mix for two hours. I will post results as soon as I get a chance, but please, if any of you have insights like Robert, feel free to share. This can always be used for future reference.

Again, thanks for all your help.

Guy.

I think i would just try 1 film and see how it goes, on massive dev it gives times for Tmax3200 upto 6400 1+50 16mins maybe try 1 at this

This is HP5 (120 film) at 1600, rodinal stand for 2 hours
