DaveEP Posted April 13, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted April 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) So, we are 6 months (or so) in to M8s being around, and now that we have past all the initial teething problems that I expect from most 'new' inovations, a great many people have settled in to some great personal routines. My guess is that some of you are using user profiles more than others. Â Please post how you set different user profiles and 'why' ? How are you using this feature and how is it helping you? Or.... are you simply ignoring this feature altogether?
Advertisement Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Hi DaveEP, Take a look here User Profiles - 6 Months On...... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
steve_l Posted April 14, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted April 14, 2007 I mostly use a profile to simply return my M8 to a known group of settings after I've monkeyed with them for specific needs.....that way I can know where I am and reset for new circumstances. waterlenz Posted April 14, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted April 14, 2007 I don't bother with using them, too much of a manual setting type. However, I do manage with auto-exposure, but occasionally set the shutter speed manually which is easier for me than exposure comp. What might qualify as a user setting is that I put the color sat setting at B&W, then switch to DNG+Jpeg for IR shooting. Otherwise it is straight, 'no chaser', DNG. Shootist Posted April 14, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted April 14, 2007 Mine are as follows UP 1: Jepg only, AWB, 10MP, ISO 320, sharpen + 1 Contrast +1. All other settings are basically the same as default except Lens detection, Coded+IR (Now with FW 1.102), review mode off. UP 2: DNG only, AWB, ISO 320 and exceptions to the default listed above. UP 3: DNG + Jpeg B&W, AWB, ISO 320. Same as above. Â I try to keep them simple and make changes as I need. I mainly shoot DNG only and if I'm looking for B&W straight out of the camera the I'll go to UP 3.
Venkman Posted April 14, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted April 14, 2007 I'm with Tom - since I have to use the menu anyway, I switch as I need to and don't use them at all.
