pico Posted October 4, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2013 I have doubts about the functionality of the 38mm ball's panorama function especially for analog photography where a very sensitive level is required. With digital stitching it is not so critical except for great enlargements.
pop Posted October 4, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 4, 2013 It appears that the ball is locked into its socket during the panoramic rotation. Hence, the rotational axis will be sufficiently well defined. Its direction may not what you intended, but constant it will be.

True, Sir, but results will be better if the head is level - the point I was trying to make. The Leica head does not provide a level - or does it? The Leica head does not provide a level - or does it? Ah - no, it does not. Actually, wouldn't it take more than one level to provide the proper alignment in all dimensions? pico Posted October 6, 2013 Share #7 Posted October 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ah - no, it does not. Actually, wouldn't it take more than one level to provide the proper alignment in all dimensions? One level that shows two dimensions. I have residual fussiness from the analog era and use a refined surveyor leveling head under another head. Silliness to digital mavens, I know. It used to be so difficult.
