dante Posted October 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there a way to get the camera to stay on User 1? After being switched off and on, mine keeps going back to the default profile (not the factory settings, but literally, a blank when you press "Set" to see the profile in use). The problem is that this default profile (for reasons that are unclear) locks out the ISO menu and turns off automatic focus assist (you can turn it on in the context of the default profile, but the next time the camera reverts, it's off again). And yes, the main battery has been left in long enough to charge the camera's setting battery. Dante

01af Posted October 1, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 1, 2013 After being switched off and on, mine keeps going back to the default profile (not the factory settings, but literally, a blank when you press SET to see the profile in use). The camera doesn't return to Default Profile when it's switched off and on. Instead, it does when you first select your own profile ("USER 1" or whatever you named it), then change some arbitrary setting (ISO or white balance or whatever) so no specific profile is selected anymore (profile "– – –"), and finally press SET three times (or e. g. SET - INFO - INFO). Maybe there's contact chatter in your SET button, so it bounces a couple of times when you intend to press it once? That said, the Default Profile indeed is particularly stupid and entirely useless. Unfortunately, it tends to get in the way in the most inappropriate moments, typically when you're trying to change some setting real quick. The person who invented this profile and made it the default should be sentenced to 20 years of using his own invention exclusively.
