WATE Framelines

I've got a Contax Carl Zeiss Hologon 16mm f/8 lens waiting to be converted from Contax G mount to Leica M mount.

The technician is going to use an actual Leica M lens mount to replace the one on the Hologon 16mm lens.

All I need to know is, what framelines do I want the Hologon to activate. The technician says he has either a 28mm or 90mm leica ring/mount available.

From what I have read on this forum, so far, it seems that the WATE activates the 28/90mm framelines. So, I am guessing that either the 28mm or 90mm ring/mount would be fine to install on the hologon.

Please advise.

I don't think that it matters much, since none of the above is the correct answer.

16mm will result in a wider angle than the viewfinder provides.

You might be looking for a 21mm accessory viewfinder to see what you might get.

I don't think I was clear enough. I am not interested in the framelines to use for actual framing.

It turns out that the Leica M8 not only uses the 6-bit code for image optimization, it also takes the framelines into account.

I plan to code the Hologon, but I also have to get the framelines right, for the M8 to apply its image optimization.

So, can a WATE owner please tell me what framelines are activated by the WATE?

Finally, if it turns out that the framelines are 28/90 mm, does it matter what ring/mount I install on the Hologon: 28mm or 90mm?
