Guest badbob Posted November 15, 2013 Share #42 Posted November 15, 2013 One UK dealer has reduced prices for both used and new XV ... the used item has been available for weeks ... the new XV is now priced at the used XV's previous price. dunk B&H still wants $2850, and Amazon wants $2729. So as far as the USA is concerned, the price is not "falling".

wda Posted November 15, 2013 Share #45 Posted November 15, 2013 But just think of the unique work you have done while others waited.

Yep ... So I wonder how long we have to wait before other Premier dealers follow suit? One dealer is still flogging the Mini M label. But the XV can never be considered as an M camera by dedicated M users ... it's an imposter in the M camp. The XV is a standalone tool ... V = Vario but V also means: Veracious (high integrity images throughout ISO range), Versatile (lens eminently usable at any aperture throughout zoom range), Vigorous (capable of hard use) , Virtuous (intuitive in use and exemplary performance), Voluptuous (sensually delightful - minimalist controls with no gimmick modes) ... and Victorious (better performance than competitors). Grab a bargain at the new price and enjoy its attributes. dunk
dkCambridgeshire Posted November 19, 2013 Share #47 Posted November 19, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Three UK dealers now list the X-Vario at £1998 and £1999 compared to the £2150 list price elsewhere. Leica Mayfair's price list still shows £2150. I guess there are several possibilities as to why these dealers have reduced prices. dunk
barjohn Posted November 19, 2013 Share #48 Posted November 19, 2013 Even at the lowest price above, that is still $3200 US dollars.
dkCambridgeshire Posted November 19, 2013 Share #49 Posted November 19, 2013 Even at the lowest price above, that is still $3200 US dollars. Official UK Leica imports include the official Leica UK Passport which covers accidental damage cover in addition to the 2 year warranty. My X1 was repaired FOC under the Leica Passport scheme after a colleague accidentally damaged the camera's monitor. And there are no local taxes payable on UK purchases. However, US camera prices are generally less than UK prices ... but it depends on the exchange rate. There have been times when favourable exchange rates made importing from US to UK cost-effective ... even allowing for duty and VAT payable in UK. dunk
