I also got my M8.2 Protector half case altered by a local shoe shop. Nice job, done in 20 minutes and for only ten uk pounds. Apparently the chap that did it was used to such requests!

M fits in the case nicely (despite the extra width). Added advantage is that it feels the same in my hands as the old M8.2.

Not keen on the white stitching on the new M cases from Leica.

I'm brand new to Leica and RF and just purchased an M Type 240 today locally. I'm moving from Nikon back to a simpler way......to get me back to the love of just taking pictures as a natural thing that I had with my old Nikkormat FTn in the 70's. I've been enjoying reading all the stuff on line about the M 240 but especially perspectives on this forum. I expect to dig deep into it for the guidance I know i'll need.

I figured I needed to protect this M 240 so I've been reading this thread about users experiences with these 3rd party cases. Then I saw the 'Leica Camera Protector' from Leica and figured all the fit issues should be eliminated with it, so I bought one. It looked like it would not add too much bulk yet it does have the grip on the front.

And i added the 'Thumbs Up' so I can get a good grip on the back.

I wondered why there was no mention of the stock case on this thread? Did I make a mistake?

I don't think so. I think it was recommended back in the thread somewhere, it's certainly how I got to think about it. Visited Leica in Mayfair the other day and picked one up for my M. Compared to all the others mentioned on here it is something of a bargain, I think. Not as 'artisan' in appearance as some others, but does the job for the occasions I'll need it for.
